As the Scale Up Milwaukee has begun to gain momentum and many different activities have been implemented, we recognized that the project is in a critical part of Phase I and it is imperative that our key stakeholders and our region’s astute observers and leaders convene in order to evaluate and “fine-tune” the Scale Up initiative.
On Monday, September 17 the Scale Up Milwaukee launch team hosted a day-long visioning session with over twenty of the project’s key partners and stakeholders, representing a variety of different sectors; corporate, academic, start up, civic, public and private entities.
Visioning Session Objectives:
- Alignment around Scale Up Milwaukee
- Principles, vision, strategy, objectives, process
- Commitment to the priority of Scale Up
- Determine a clear path forward
The day started with a review of a case study on Boston’s Innovation District, followed by a discussion about the valuable lessons we can take away from the creation of the Water Council, which just celebrated the grand opening of the Global Water Center a few weeks ago. After hearing a summary of lessons learned and the initial impact of Phase I activities, the group made significant progress in outlining the concrete activities that will define the next phase of Scale Up Milwaukee and foster the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Scale Up is well on its way towards making a substantial and measurable impact on Milwaukee’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Together, with our Scale Up partners and key stakeholders throughout the ecosystem, we are fostering economic growth and a culture that supports and celebrates innovation and entrepreneurial activity.
