Public Leadership: Mayor’s Visit to Ink to the People

As a part of the Scale Up initiative, we want to activate public leadership’s involvement with entrepreneurs by actually going and visiting businesses in the greater Milwaukee area to see first-hand the successes that exist throughout city.

On Monday August 26th, Scale Up Milwaukee invited Mayor Tom Barrett to visit Visual Impressions, a local t-shirt and promotional printing company. Visual Impressions has experienced significant growth, and has received national coverage through Ink to the People, following their production of the “Boston Strong” t-shirts. The shirts have raised more than $850,000 for Boston Mayor Menino’s One Fund for those affected by the tragic events at the Boston Marathon.

Mayor Barrett was able to tour the facility’s offices and production area, getting a look at some of the newest technology that the company is using. The visit also served as a great opportunity for Visual Impressions/Ink to the People to elaborate on how they have utilized different resources in Milwaukee to assist in their growth and their plans for the future of their business.

We look forward to the next visit and hope to continue to highlight the success stories here in Milwaukee!
