Scale Up Milwaukee hosts the inaugural members meeting on June 27, 2016.
The meeting will include a discussion with Barry Mandel and Jerry Jendusa, two entrepreneurs with a history of exceptional growth.
This meeting is open to non-members interested in learning more about the benefits of joining the only growth-focused membership platform of its kind. A networking reception with beer and wine will follow the program.
Barry R. Mandel has a JD degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a BA in economics from the University of Wisconsin. After graduating from law school, he practiced tax, corporate, and real estate law in Kansas City, Missouri.
In January 1986, he joined Trammell Crow Residential (“TCR”) as managing residential partner for Wisconsin. From 1988-1989, Mr. Mandel also assumed responsibility for TCR’s operations in Minneapolis.
In November, 1991, Mr. Mandel formed Mandel Group Inc. (MGI). MGI is an integrated real estate services firm with operations in development, construction, and property management. The Company’s primary real estate focus is urban in-fill and suburban/urban node luxury multi-family rental communities and mixed-use developments. Over the last 3 years, MGI has also created a Midwest Multifamily Acquisition Platform. The firm and its affiliates directly employ approximately 160 professionals in these activities. Since inception, it has completed over $1 billion in development and acquisitions.
Communities developed and managed by MGI have received numerous national and regional awards including the prestigious Urban Land Institute 1999 Award for Excellence. In 2000, Mr. Mandel was presented with the “Rotary Person of the Year Vocational Recognition Award” from the Milwaukee Rotary Club for his significant contributions to the real estate industry and downtown Milwaukee development.
Mr. Mandel has been featured in numerous periodicals for his developments and was featured in April, 2012, in Milwaukee Magazine in an article entitled, “He Built This City”. In 2014, he received the “Inspiration Entrepreneur Award” from BIZSTARTS Milwaukee, “Building Milwaukee Award” from Milwaukee/NARI, and “Executive of the Year Award Honorable Mention” from the Milwaukee Business Journal. In February, 2016, Mr. Mandel and the Mandel Group Inc. received an award “For Commitment and Support to Make the Milwaukee Riverwalk a Better Place to Live, Work, and Play”. Mr. Mandel was the featured cover story in the April 22, 2016, edition of the Milwaukee Business Journal.
Mr. Mandel is Past Chair of the Multi-family Gold Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and is now the Current Chair of the Multi-family Green Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Mr. Mandel is a member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and the National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC).
Jerry Jendusa is the co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer/Chairman of the Board for EMTEQ, which he successfully ran for the past 18 years. During his tenure, the aerospace company grew from a basement start up to an international aerospace business with 7 locations, in 4 countries with more than 630 employees and over $100 MM in sales. Additionally, under Jendusa’s tutelage, the company successfully executed 3 acquisitions and 2 start-ups. After facilitating the successful sale of the business to a strategic partner in June of 2014 Jendusa co-founded STUCK, LLC which has a unique play in business advisory and investment work.
